A curated collection of organizations that support and advance the work of journalists and provide professional networking resources and opportunities.
As you'll see, some of these focus on the interests of journalists reporting on a particular beat, and others are focused on providing professional affiliations for journalists based on personal or professional identity or core values. Consider the ones that appeal to your core values, practices, goals, as well as your identity in the workplace and the world. Many if not all of these have student membership options and some have mentorship programs for students or journalists early in their careers. These can be a very good way of professionalizing yourself, engaging with like-minded journalists who are already in the workplace, and keeping informed about the field and the industry as well as how particular stories are being covered.

Not specifically journalism oriented but - this is a local organization that regularly hosts events and panels with professionals from across the communication, media and entertainment industries. Their events are free to students and I recommend signing up for their newsletter and bookmarking their job board, especially when you’re looking for an internship.
ONA sponsors numerous programs and opportunities for journalism students and also offers student memberships.
